Sigiriya Rock
Climb Sigiriya in the cool of the morning. Afternoon at the Dambulla cave temples.
Polonnaruwa
Cycle or drive through the ruins of the medieval capital, with an optional evening drive in Minneriya.
To Kandy
Via a spice garden to Kandy. Evening visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Into the tea country
Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya, then climb to Nuwara Eliya with a tea factory visit.
The train to Ella
A slow train through tea estates and cloud forest to Ella; sit on the left for the valley views. Afternoon walk to Little Adam’s Peak.
Departure
Return to Colombo or continue to the south coast.
